european bike tours.

european bike tours.

i have quickly learnt that bicycles are a major form of transport in most of the european countries i have been to so far - particularly amsterdam. in most they have right of way so crossing the street is no longer as easy as looking for a car coming your way, and these bikes come from all different directions unexpectedly! in amsterdam not only do you look for cars, buses and bicycles but trams as well. long story short, from experience, wait for the lights! and if you get in the way of a bike, expect some angry dutch coming your way.
bike tours have been one of the major highlights of my trip through europe - cycling through the swiss alps was breathtaking (although it left my legs feeling like jelly for two days), and then the more casual street rides through munich, holland and amsterdam have been unforgettable. i would definitely recommend doing bike tours when in europe and from someone who previous to these had not ridden one in over 8 years - it is just like riding a bike.

amsterdamned.

amsterdamned.

the first leg of my trip is over and it is crazy to think i still have so much ahead of me, considering what i have already seen and done. i am spending a few extra nights in amsterdam and then it is off to nice for a couple of days to relax before i start my next tour in the greek islands. so far my trip has been breathtaking but little access to the internet has meant i haven't been able to share much of it yet, but it will come. for now though, with the sun just going down (at 10:40pm - the long days in europe are amazing), it is time for me to catch up on some sleep x
